Before Oprah graduated high school she was working for a radio show in Nashville, pursuing her vision and accomplishing career goals. When she was 19 years old, she was the first African American woman to anchor WTVF-TV news in Nashville. Not long after that, Oprah went to Baltimore to anchor another news channel, and then she preceded to co-host a local talk show.

After absorbing a wealth of knowledge from her previous career experiences, Oprah moved to Chicago to host the number one talk show, AM Chicago. This show was later renamed The Oprah Winfrey Show, and before long became the talk show with the highest ratings in talk show history*.
