“There’s no place like New Orleans. It’s got the best food. It’s got the best music. It’s got the best people. It’s got the most fun stuff to do.” -Harry Connick Jr.

Liberty National in New Orleans City ParkCongratulations to Liberty National Agents who qualified for Convention 2014 in New Orleans, Louisiana! New Orleans is home to countless historical and entertaining attractions, so we know this vacation will be the trip of a lifetime for Agents.

New Orleans City Park

While you’re in the Big Easy, check out New Orleans City Park. The 1,300-acre outdoor getaway was established in 1854, and is one of the nation’s oldest urban parks*. Within park grounds you’ll find the prestigious Botanical Garden, Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. The park even features a jogging trail and an 18-hole golf course!

In the wake of the 1930s America was suffering from the Great Depression. During this time the Roosevelt Administration spent $12 million establishing New Orleans City Park for the Works Progress Administration. In more recent history, Hurricane Katrina left a majority of the park grounds in ruins, but residents of New Orleans came together to restore the park to an even more majestic location than it was before*. Today, as you wander among the historic oak trees (some of which are more than 800 years old) the sounds of live local bands harmonize in the background. The park symbolizes growth, a city that comes together, and the culture of New Orleans.
