A Timeless Career
Walt Disney, the famous creator of the beloved Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney Studios, was an artist and animation guru for years before he became even a blip on the Hollywood radar. With larger than life dreams, a little hope, and some luck, Walt was able to open his own studio and eventually share his creativity with the world.
After a creating a couple short cartoons, Walt released Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which is considered one of the greatest feats of the motion picture industry. The cartoon premiered at the Carthay Circle Theater in Los Angeles in December of 1937. During the next few years Walt Disney Studios completed numerous full-length animated classics such as Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, and Bambi*.
Somehow, despite all of the successes and demands from his sudden fame, Walt planned a theme park where families could spend quality time with each other and their beloved Disney characters. In 1955, Disneyland Park in California became a reality. In the years following the theme park success, Walt was among the first to present full-color television with his Wonderful World of Color*.
Sadly, Walt passed away in 1966 due to complications from lung cancer. However, his dream lives on even today in the classic films and characters he brought to life for so many generations. The Walt Disney Company has continued the legacy and still brings movies to viewers all over the world.
